Your comment: "Why is it so hard to accept that artists, whether they be black or white or brindle, all make good and bad art?" equally applies to literature by black writers. During my degree in Australian Literature, I did a module on Aboriginal writing taught by Marxist, Ivor Indyk. I was singled out as a racist (and probably a fascist) because I dared to criticise a couple of novels written by Aboriginal 'authors' that wouldn't have been considered for publication if they'd been scribed by a whitey.
Great insights John. Thanks for saying things so many artists know and feel
I hope and pray that Maud Page reads your column John.
I'm sure she'll read it, but not convinced she can do much while the staff cuts are underway. It's not a happy place right now.
