It is great to see you engage so intelligently with those who seem to live where art meets commerce. I have subscribed to your column for a relatively short time, but I am intrigued by the insights you have and share. I'm glad that someone has at least responded to you - for all I know your observations and criticisms are ignored by their subjects. (Do you hear much from the Powerhouse mob, or Creative NSW?) Keep up the very good work. Men with pins are always important.
I know that I don’t know a lot, I am grateful for perspective. My youngest daughter when 11 or so once said to a curator that she thought a lot of the art she had seen was crap. They agreed and that unfortunately filled 85% of their day. Surely an option writer must be allowed to reflect that. It is a shame when the groupspeak becomes more important than the work.

I never hear a whisper from these people, Guy. That's why this sudden burst of angry, threatening responses is such a novelty!
Extraordinary information.
Fan mail!
A little of that HP sauce can go a long way.
It's pretty simple. I don't like bullies
John
“ what if they liked you “ 🙂
Then I'd really be in trouble
👍
Great piece John,
The contemporary malaise eviscerated.
These people are not used to being taken to task. From what I’ve heard on the grapevine nobody ever challenges their choices. HP can’t take criticism.
I feel for you ,John.. it’s so unreasonable and outrageously disgusting behaviour..
Another day at the office

Welcome to today's artworld, Andrew
Well said John. If you are free I’m still wanting to talk about the state government’s budget and what it means to regional galleries. Regards Jeff
Hello Jeff, happy to talk on this subject. I've just had a rather hectic week. Let me know what day suits. John
